Mock Draft: NFLGuru.net is on the Clock
As you may already know, NFLGuru.net was selected to be a guest picker for a mock draft with other NFL Bloggers.

You may notice, these bloggers love their Running Backs. This is smart because you can’t win at Fantasy Football without a great RB or two.
Surprisingly, 3 Quarterbacks have been taken so far in the first 2 rounds. I strongly disagree with the strategy of taking a QB in the two rounds — These teams will find themselves scrambling to find a starting Running Back or Wide Receiver in the later rounds.
The team I am picking for in the 2nd round selected Larry Johnson in the first round (4th Overall). My personal choice would have been Frank Gore over LJ because the 49ers are a team on the rise while the Chiefs are falling fast.
Now it’s time for me to make choice — With this 2nd round pick do I take a mediocre RB? All of the great ones are gone, and there will still be mediocre running backs left in the 3rd and 4th rounds (Brandon Jacobs, Thomas Jones, Cadillac Williams ECT.)
Should I take a QB? — NO! That’s an easy decision.
With the 9th pick in the 2nd round, NFLGuru.net selects The Best Wide Receiver overall: Carolina Panthers WR, Steve Smith.
Smith is a threat to score from anywhere on the field and the Panthers offense is built around him. He may not end up with the most receptions but he will have more yards than any other WR at the end of the season.
With the addition of Dwayne Jarrett and an improved running game Smith will see less double coverage, especially in the end zone.
Low Risk — High Reward: Welcome to the team Steve Smith.

[…] Steve Smith, WR, Panthers [The NFL Guru] […]
Let’s hope that he doesn’t sit out half the season with an injury;-)
But seriously, if there are no stud RBs left, I always go with stud WRs who are the go-to guys on their team. Since WRs are usually undervalued, you can often pick up the best of breed in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. This is a nice pick.
[…] draft selection and no real surprises except Larry Johnson who may be a possible holdout. However, The NFL Guru filled-in well and rebounded in the 2nd round with the selection of Steve Smith. Palmer could have […]
