Ever since I can remember, I was fascinated with the works of George Orwell. By far my favorite book of his was 1984. In that book, the main character Winston Smith tries to live a life that is not approved by the government. However, this is extremely tough, since there are cameras and informants everywhere. Big Brother, the euphemism used to describe the head of state, was said to always be watching you.
When I noticed that a new reality show titled Big Brother was set to air on television from TVByDirect.com, I was overjoyed. Finally there was a television show that gave proper homage to one of the best writers of all time. The show was similar to other reality shows. A group of strangers must live together in a home, and they are eliminated one by one. There is always one thing that they can be sure of: Big Brother is always watching them.
I was absolutely captivated by the drama, the tension, the romance, and the betrayals. Every week I would rush home from work to catch the latest episode. Since I have satellite television, there are hundreds of shows that I could have watched, but I always chose to watch Big Brother. I was delighted when Big Brother was followed by Big Brother 2. Little to my surprise, the sequel was even better than the original.
