Thanks for the guest post by Dave Myers

Everyone who knows me well knows that trying to get a hold of me on a Friday night is nearly impossible. Each week I come home at the completion of a tremendously hectic work week and get into my “relax” mode. My routine is simple and without it I wouldn’t ever truly feel like my work for the week has ended. By 5:30 I am home changing into my pajamas with a delivery pizza on its way. I turn off my phone, leave my laptop in my briefcase, and uncork a bottle of sweet red wine. Then I settle on the couch for a marathon of watching television with free On Demand. This is my time to escape the real world and fall right into my favorite TV shows. I catch up on the latest series from HBO or Showtime first so that ironically I will have something to buzz about around the water cooler at work. I’ll watch some TV shows from other networks like USA, and then after a while I may hunker down to watch one of the latest movie releases. I love how my cannon satellite TV has free On Demand. Why would I want to pay to rent any of these shows or movies on DVD when I have them right here at home? It’s the perfect way to unwind!

The Newport Aquarium is located right outside of Cincinnati in Newport, Kentucky. I frequent this aquarium often with my husband and two children and really enjoy it. There are currently more than 70 exhibits on display making it that much easier for parents to incorporate learning with fun. Some of the many exhibits include the Frog Bog, Penguin Encounters, the Shark Tank, the Gator Bayou, the Jellyfish Gallery, a rain forest, and Stingrays. The Frog Bog hosts many species of rare frogs from all over the world. My daughter loved Penguin Encounters and even has the picture to prove it! The Shark Tank is amazing and allows visitors to see a sample of how beautiful these creatures really are. The Gator Bayou is located under a bridge and houses American Alligators in their natural surroundings. The Jellyfish Gallery claims to be the biggest exhibit in the Midwestern United States. This tank is massive and currently has more than 100 different species of jellyfish. The Rain Forest houses otters, Burmese Pythons, and Lorikeets (that you can feed). The stingray exhibit allows visitors the opportunity to touch the rays and learn that they aren’t as dangerous as they seem. Before heading to the aquarium, I always set my HomeAlarmSystems home security alarm to ensure all of my property remains safe. The Newport Aquarium will always remain a favorite place for my family to go.

Dressing up, playing games, and getting candy is my favorite thing to do. For one day out of the year I really get to pretend that I am someone else. This year I am going to be Sarah Palin. My friends and I usually meet up in the mornings before school and all change into our costumes at one of the girl’s houses. At my school we are allowed to go to one of the local elementary schools and help hand out candy to the younger kids. It is so much fun getting to see hundreds of different kids in all kinds of different costumes. The best part is getting to see their faces when you hand out candy to them. After school is over my friends and I head off to a local Halloween party and dance til we cannot dance anymore. We are usually exhausted by the end of the day but we always head back to my house and watch our favorite Halloween movie on fox. This is a tradition that has been going on for 4 years now and I have a feeling even after we graduate we will still always get together on Halloween and at least watch our favorite movie after we dance til we drop at a local halloween party.

I was at home for my fall break from college just a few weeks ago and for once actually didn’t have to study or work on some crazy mid term paper while I was home for the break. I’m a senior in college and this was the first break that I actually had free! So I decided to read some chick lit because I haven’t been abel to do that since I was home for the summer.

I went online with my CLEAR wireless internet and tried to come up with an idea for a book that I could read. Frankly I’m sick to death of Nicholas Sparks and dont’ want to ever have to read another one of his books.

I settled on and bought a Shopaholic book, the one that the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic is based off of and it was the cutest thing ever! Quite frankly, I could relate a bit to the lead character because she obviously has a huge shopping problem. It was a really nice break and was the perfect break that I needed from academic reading.
